Arriving in Siem Reap
Giant Ibis ends at its terminal behind the Old Stadium, near Khmer Pub Street, where tuk-tuks wait. Other companies stop at their own offices in town, so check the drop-off on your ticket.
Flights land at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), well outside town; the Siem Reap airport guide covers the shuttle bus and taxis.
Luggage, check-in and tickets
Giant Ibis's route page asks you to be there 30 minutes before departure and lists 20 kg of luggage; its general terms say 35 minutes and 25 kg. Go by what your ticket says. Its direct tickets are non-refundable but can be changed once with 24 hours' notice; a ticket bought through another seller follows that seller's conditions.

Six hours by road, day or night
Siem Reap is about 320 km north-west of Phnom Penh, and the bus takes about six hours. It is the usual way to go: for late October 2026, more than 250 departures by bus, van, taxi and air were on sale online for a single day.
Day or night. Day buses leave from early morning to early afternoon and arrive before dark. Night sleepers leave late in the evening and arrive around dawn. Giant Ibis's night bus has the fleet's only onboard toilet and makes no bathroom stops, only a short driver change in Kampong Thom. Its beds are 1.8 m long, with one 2 m bed at the back.
Vans are a little cheaper and sometimes quicker, but you have less room for bags and legs. The bus guide compares seats, sleepers and vans across Cambodia.
Flying takes under an hour, but you still have the drive out to Techo airport and in from Siem Reap's airport, so door to door it saves less time than it seems.
The boat. Cambodia River Express has sailed across the Tonle Sap at weekends while the water is high, 6 to 7 hours, and went boat-only in January 2026. No sailing was on sale for October 2026 and its website was offline, so confirm with the operator before planning on it; the ferry guide lists the river boats.
