Ferries to Koh Rong and where they land
From Sihanoukville. Speed ferries take about 45 to 50 minutes. Island Speed Ferry sails at 08:00, 09:00, 12:00 and 15:00 to Koh Toch, USD 17 one way or USD 30 return, for October 2026; GTVC sails at 08:00 to Koh Toch, and Romny Tour Express at 09:30 and 13:00 to Long Set Beach, both about USD 18 sold online. Times, piers and terms are on Sihanoukville to Koh Rong.
Which pier. Koh Rong is a big island, and boats land in different places:
- Koh Toch (also written Koh Touch) is the main village, where most boats land and where the restaurants, hostels and boat trips are.
- Long Set Beach (also called 4K Beach) is south of Koh Toch; Romny Tour Express lands there, and Island Speed Ferry boats were sold online with a Long Set stop. A forest path also links it with Koh Toch on foot; it is unlit, so walk it in daylight.
- Sok San Beach (Long Beach) is on the far side of the island. GTVC's 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00 boats from Sihanoukville land there, about 48 minutes, from USD 21 sold online for October 2026. A road now links Sok San with Koh Toch.
Book the boat that lands nearest where you are staying; it saves a ride across the island.
From Kampot. Speed ferries leave the Kampot International Tourism Port at 08:30 (Vireak Buntham, about 2 hours to Koh Rong) and 09:30 (GTVC, about 2 hours 15 minutes, from USD 16 sold online for October 2026). See the Kampot guide.
From Phnom Penh. Take a bus or the train to Sihanoukville, then a ferry. Giant Ibis's 07:45 bus takes about 3 hours, in time for the 12:00 or 15:00 boat; the 07:00 train takes 6 hours 36 minutes. See Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville.
From Siem Reap. Giant Ibis's night bus leaves at 22:00 and reaches Sihanoukville at about 08:00, in time for a morning boat. Sihanoukville airport (KOS) also lists flights from Siem Reap, though not every day. See the Siem Reap guide.
From Vietnam and Thailand. From Ho Chi Minh City, take the bus to Phnom Penh, or cross at Hà Tiên to Kampot and take the ferry from there; see the Cambodia–Vietnam border guide. Land crossings from Thailand are suspended, so fly from Bangkok to Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville.
Getting around the island. Koh Toch and the beaches near it are walkable. For Sok San and the far side, use the road: motorbike taxis and scooter rentals are the usual way, or a boat taxi along the coast. Ask your guesthouse about a pickup from the pier.

Leaving Koh Rong: Samloem, Sihanoukville and Kampot
To Sihanoukville. Island Speed Ferry leaves Koh Toch at 09:21, 10:21, 13:21 and 16:21, about 54 minutes, USD 17 one way, for October 2026; its boats were also sold from Long Set Beach from 09:05. GTVC leaves Sok San at 11:30, about 45 minutes, USD 21 sold online. Sihanoukville to Koh Rong covers both directions.
To Koh Rong Samloem. A small inter-island boat leaves Long Set Pier at 10:15 and Koh Toch at 10:30, about 45 minutes to 1 hour, USD 10 sold online for October 2026. Island Speed Ferry also sails to Koh Rong Samloem from Sihanoukville. See the Koh Rong Samloem guide.
To Kampot. Vireak Buntham's speed ferry back to the Kampot International Tourism Port leaves at 15:30; check the time from Koh Rong when you book. See the Kampot guide.
Return tickets. A return is only valid with the company that sold it, and from that company's pier. If you need to be back for a bus or flight, book the return boat time in advance.
Weather. Rough seas can cancel boats, most often in the rainy season. When Island Speed Ferry cancels for weather or safety, it offers a new date or a full refund; another company's ticket follows that company's terms. Leave a spare day before a flight.
