# Techo International Airport (KTI): getting to Phnom Penh

## Short Answer

Phnom Penh's airport is Techo International Airport (KTI), about 20 km south of the city; it replaced the old Phnom Penh airport (PNH) for all flights on 9 September 2025. Into town, a taxi or Grab costs about USD 10 to 20 and takes close to an hour; the Airport Express bus runs from 05:30 to 23:30 for 1,500 riel, reported by the press in October 2025.

## Quick Facts

- Last checked: 2026-10-17

## Techo replaced the old airport

Phnom Penh's flights use **Techo International Airport (KTI)**, about 20 km south of the city centre in Kandal province. All flights moved there from the old **Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH)** on **9 September 2025**, so instructions for the old airport, its shuttle and its train link no longer apply. Flights are booked and ticketed under the code KTI.

The new airport is farther out: allow close to an hour to the centre by road, more at rush hour.

## Taxi, Grab or the airport bus

| Choice | Price | Where to find it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Taxi | About USD 10 to 20 per car | Outside the arrival hall |
| Grab, WowNow or PassApp | About USD 10 to 20 per car | Book in the app after you exit |
| Airport Express bus | 1,500 riel (October 2025 press report) | Stop past the car parks, about 500 m from the doors |
| Car rental | Depends on the car and the days | Counters in the arrival hall |

The car prices are the airport's own range, depending on where you are going and on the traffic.

**Taxi or app.** Standard taxis wait outside, and the Grab, WowNow and PassApp apps all work from the airport. The airport recommends its official taxi counters or a ride-hailing app.

**Airport Express bus.** Run by Phnom Penh City Bus every day from **05:30 to 23:30**, between the airport and **Kouch Kanong Circle** bus station along Hun Sen Boulevard and Monivong Boulevard. Its stops in town:

- AEON Mall Mean Chey, on Hun Sen Boulevard
- Bred Bank, on Hun Sen Boulevard
- Royal University of Law and Economics
- Canadia Garden, in front of the railway station

The airport gives no fare; the press reported **1,500 riel** in October 2025, and travellers in 2025 and 2026 say to carry the exact money in riel, as no change is given. The stop is past the car parks, about 500 m from the terminal doors. Going to the airport, wait at the same stops.

## Going on from the airport

- **Into the city:** taxi, app or bus as above. The [Phnom Penh guide](/phnom-penh/) covers the city, its bus offices and the railway station.
- **To Siem Reap:** flights leave from Techo; by road, the buses leave from their companies' offices in town, about 6 hours. See [Phnom Penh to Siem Reap](/phnom-penh-to-siem-reap/).
- **To Kampot, Kep or Sihanoukville:** the train leaves the central station at 07:00, and buses and vans leave from their offices in town; see [Phnom Penh to Kampot](/phnom-penh-to-kampot/) and [Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville](/phnom-penh-to-sihanoukville/). The long-distance buses do not leave from the airport, so the alternative is a car for the whole way.
- **To Vietnam:** buses to Ho Chi Minh City leave from their offices in town; see [Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City](/phnom-penh-to-ho-chi-minh-city/).

## Flying out

Thai Airways asked passengers to be at Techo at least three hours before departure when flights moved there. Add close to an hour from the centre, and more at rush hour. The Airport Express runs to the airport from 05:30, so for an early flight take a taxi or a Grab.

## Arriving: e-visa and e-Arrival

Techo accepts Cambodia's e-visa, and Cambodia's e-Arrival portal asks every air passenger, visa holders included, to submit the free **e-Arrival** form online within seven days before arrival. The [Cambodia visa guide](/cambodia-visa/) explains the e-visa, visa on arrival and who is exempt.

## Phnom Penh airport: what people ask

### What is the airport code for Phnom Penh?

KTI, for Techo International Airport. The old code PNH belonged to the former Phnom Penh International Airport, whose flights all moved to Techo on 9 September 2025.

### How far is Techo airport from Phnom Penh city centre?

About 20 km south, by the airport's own figure. By road it takes close to an hour, longer in traffic.

### How much is a taxi from Techo airport to Phnom Penh?

About USD 10 to 20 per car by the airport's figures, for a standard taxi or a Grab, WowNow or PassApp ride; the price depends on where you are going and on traffic.

### Is there a bus from Techo airport to Phnom Penh?

Yes, the Airport Express, run by Phnom Penh City Bus every day from 05:30 to 23:30, to Kouch Kanong Circle by way of Hun Sen and Monivong boulevards. The fare was 1,500 riel when the press reported it in October 2025; carry small riel notes.

### Can I go straight from the airport to Siem Reap, Kampot or Sihanoukville?

Not by bus from the airport itself: the long-distance buses leave from their companies' offices in town, so take a taxi there, or hire a car for the whole trip. Flights to Siem Reap leave from Techo.

### How early should I get to Techo airport for a flight?

Thai Airways asked its passengers to arrive at least three hours before departure when flights moved to Techo. With close to an hour on the road, leave the city early.

### Do I need the e-Arrival form at Techo airport?

Yes. Cambodia's e-Arrival portal asks every traveller arriving by air, visa holders included, to submit the free form online within seven days before arrival; it names Techo among the airports. The [Cambodia visa guide](/cambodia-visa/) covers the visa itself.
